This is one of the prettiest, and largest of Johannes Brahms boxes that I have ever come across! It stands on four (4) tiny feet, 3 1/2" tall NOT including the three (3) beautiful roses surrounded with their leaves. The ruffled edge of the lid extends to 6 1/2" across. The pottery roses are colored in red, pink and a pale yellow with pink centers. The top of the bottom measures 5 1/2" square. Johannes Brahms began making this type of box in the 1930's & 40's and into the 50's before interest began to wain. This one is in excellent condition, missing only a few tiny spots of glaze...one on one tip of the top corner, one on the bottom (this shows in one of the photos) and on the back side of one leaf of the pink rosebud (I'm happy to send to closer photos if requested). The one on the back of the rosebud may actually be a glaze miss from time of production. There are no other chips or cracks. It is signed by Johannes Brahms.
